Sweet Pix, Milestones, the Creek and Birthday Dinner

I just want to share this sweet pix of my lil dragons. They watched their cartoons as soon as they got up from bed.
And for the first time Jake followed his Dada's order to hug sissy and pose for him. Actually, he was already hugging Justine but as soon as Joe grabbed the camera he stopped.
Yesterday, it was very hot and humid but we went for a bicycle ride anyway. We only ride for 2 miles then went to the creek to have this two duckies cooling off in that brown, cold water.
Then, we headed off to treat Mary for dinner. We forgot to greet her on her birthday and we also forgot to visit her that day. So, after the bike ride we went to find a restaurant in Franklin but it was Sunday and we never expected that all restaurant in that small town/city were closed. We ended up eating out in an over priced restaurant by the airport in that place. It was also a perfect dinner because Jake turned 28 months old yesterday.(2 yrs& 4 mo.)
I already shared this video in my main blog, but i wanted to post it here too as part of Justine's Milestones. My lil lambchop turns 11-month-& 2 Week old today. She is more than a handful now. I was chatting to Anygen this afternoon when she hit the ESC in my keyboard. She likes pressing any keys in our keyboard, turn the TV off, turn the DVD off and climbing the chairs and lots lots more. At her very young age she already broke our curtain rod, our cable box and I think there is more coming like TV perhaps.

One study of thumb-sucking suggests that as many as 94 percent of infants drop the habit by their first birthday.

Here is what you will expect for your 11 month and week 2 Milestones from BabyCenter.

Chances are good that your baby's grown attached to a certain blanket or toy. Transitional objects may help your baby weather potentially stressful experiences -- such as a doctor's visit or an overnight trip -- more easily. You may want to buy a duplicate of that "lovey" (or cut the original in half, if it's something like a blanket), in case you need to replace a lost one or take it away to clean it.

Your baby probably enjoys looking at books and leafing through the pages, though turning those pages one by one doesn't always happen. Indulge in great picture books or stick with sturdy and inexpensive board books that can stand up to small fingers.

To add variety to your baby's reading time and to find out what appeals the most, try your local library or the kids' section at a family-friendly bookstore — or trade a few titles with friends.

11 Months Old Justine and Rylie's B-day

This little lady just turn 11 months old today July 3rd. OMG, she will be a year old next month how is that? I am amazed at how time flies. She is getting prettier, bigger and handful each day. She has four little teethsis now. Couple of day ago our cable decided to gave up on us, it's because this girl had picked the cable box as her throne. She likes sitting and standing on top of the cable box or something bring some toys and start pounding it. Like I said before she is an undercover agent. Always under every appliances she could find. I gave her and Jake a night time bath today and she jumped out of the bath tub. She broke her lips. I was there watching them but right on the time I turn around to grab the towel, there i saw my little girl fly out of the bath tub and landed on the floor. I was too late to catch her because the situation was too quick. She is alright though, nothing major injuries. This is how handful this girl is. She is not scared to try things, she climbs the stair even if she was too tiny to step her legs or foot. She climbs chairs, couch and bed too. She already took her first 2 steps just the time she turns 11 months old. She is still goofing around when we let her walk though. We believe that she will be able to walk soon.

2 Years and 3 Months

Another month added to my little guy's age now. He just turns 27 months old today, March 11th. It's very interesting how kids changes everyday and discovers different things. They learn new things and words everyday. I know that Jake is a very good boy but lots of times he misbehaves because of sibling rivalry. I can't blame him to feel that way and we really tried to give him the attention that he needs. He gets jealous with Justine lots of time and he wants our attention all to himself. He hurt Justine just to get our attention not because he wants to hurt her. Every weekend, Justine and I usually got up late in the morning and I always heard Jake looking for his sissy. That only shows he cares for her. Aside from sibling rivalry, Jake is in the stage of what they call terrible twos. He does lots of terrible things that annoyed and pissed us off. Well, this attitudes and behavior are just part of his milestones, eventually it will be change when he start to understand words. To my buckaroo happy 2 years and 3 months birthday! Always remember that Dada and Mama loves you and sissy so very much.

Another J&J's Milestones

In this photo the little lambchop still trying to figured out how to climb up the stairs and jealous of the fact that Jake can climb up and down the stairs. Well, she works too hard in finding the ways how to use that tiny legs to climb up the stairs and all of her hard work has paid off. At 9 months and 2 weeks old she able to climb 12 steps of our 14 steps stairs. Yes, you read it right folk today May 18th marks the day that Justine able to climb the stairs. Yesterday, she fell from the stairs but I don't know how high i guess it was just 2 steps. I was taking a nap and Babger was watching Jake and Justine. He ran upstairs to take a dump and J&J followed him. The buckaroo knows how to move the playpen that we used to blocked the way going upstairs. So, when he followed the big J, the chubby J followed too. He called me to check Justine but i didn't hear him. Anyhow, the lil lambchop was fine after that fall, that is part of growing up no matter how careful and tight you watch them they still prone to accident. They also learn from that accident as part of life. I'm happy that she knows how to climb but I am scared as well because it means I have to follow them every single time. Tapos na maliligayang araw ko. Way to go Justine!

As for my buckaroo, today he said complete sentence like I know Mama is Nanyt. We were at the kitchen when the side of my body was aching and I curl down on the floor. He was mumbling talking this and that, snow, dada and others. He saw me with my position and he said I know Mama is nanyt and that was really cute. He had few words and sentence he keep using like
~ There you go
~ Take a bath
~ What is that
~ count 1 - 10, A to Z
~ Money and more words but few clear sentence because it more on gibberish.
I am proud of my kids. It's just a matter of time and they will learn lots of things.

Milestone: Clapping

Do you recall the proud moment when your baby first learned to clap her hands?

I was gonna post this last month when I took this video but I keep forgetting to upload it on YouTube. Here is my little lambchop having fun discovering the joy of clapping. She'd been doing this when she was still seven months old but not consistent. She followed her Kuya Jake most of the time. And if she sees us clapping for Jake she also clap and mimic us. Clapping and pointing are just a few of the new tricks that my little lambchop finds amazing to do. They love it when you praise them if they clap or point at your nose, eyes or mouth. She wave sometimes though but not consistent.

Some baby start clapping at 7 months and I'm sure this is the proud moment for mommy when they see their baby clapping. It's cute seeing them beamed with glee at her new found skill, and so did the mommy. (Finally! All those rounds of patty-cake paid off!) As with so many of her milestones, your parental pride created a virtuous cycle: She was pleased with herself and saw that you were pleased, too, so she clapped again and again. And each time you reinforced her positive feelings. So what's next for those pudgy little paws? Somewhere near the nine-month mark, she'll reward you with a wave. Keep showing and telling her how to wave bye-bye, and before too long she'll give it a whirl herself. If you want to learn about your Baby's Development Month by Month as well as tips click on the link provided. Record every milestones and moments of your baby's development. Baby grows so fast so enjoy every single moments with your bundle of joy.

9 Months Old Milestones

My little lamb chop just turned 9 months couple of days ago. Two of her little teethsis are now coming out. She's been eating veggies instead of pureed baby food. She started using kuya Jake's walker if the guardiya sibil is not looking. She is growing like a weed and getting heavier each day. There are lots of things we need to work on with her though like moving her to the room and sleep in her crib permanently. She is still co sleeping with us at night and that I think the reason why Jake move to our room at the middle of the night because he was jealous of Justine sleeping with us. The stranger anxiety is normal at her age right now but still we need to work on that too and give her more exposure. She is just to attach to me and cling on me all the time. I also tried to discourage her thumbsucking habit but this little girl is too stubborn just like ehem! hehe.... Well, I always feel lucky and blessed with my lil girl and she always brings joy and happiness to our life. Both of them are and they completed me. Three months to go and she will be celebrating her first birthday.

Hello, Shy!
Your baby may be the most sociable young creature around — until somebody unfamiliar comes near. Many babies this age have begun to show signs of fear or shyness around strangers. Some even start withdrawing from familiar relatives and friends, and want to be close to no one but you. This phase can be so brief you barely notice it, or it may last for months, depending on your child's temperament.

--------

Baby fat, which helps maintain body temperature, reaches a peak around 9 months of age. It typically disappears during a baby's second year.

Jake on ABC...123

Jake know some of the letters in the alphabet and almost all the numbers from 1 - 9. Although he refuses to say some of the letters and numbers that he find it hard to say but I can tell that he is trying to say them. The video above was taken couple of weeks ago during lunch time. I tried to take a video of him reading all the letters and numbers but as soon as I played the video the second time he stopped and asked for food. Now, every time he sees letters and numbers on the TV, computer and every where he just read them. I am so proud of my little buckaroo. He is still 25 months old and he knows almost all of the letters and numbers.

First Tooth

My little princess is not feeling well today because she is teething. She had fever but it's not that bad. She already had one tooth came out and I think the second one will come out soon that is why she is very fussy today. My back is aching for holding her all day as she always want to be held. Once this second tooth coming through she will be back to being happy lil princess.
----
The average age for baby getting their first baby tooth is 6 months, some infants don't get their first tooth until they are 14 or 15 months old. Others can begin teething and get an early baby tooth at 3 months.

The lower, middle two teeth (central incisors) usually come in first, followed by the upper, middle two teeth. The lateral incisors, canine teeth, first, and then second molars all follow, until all 20 baby teeth are in by the time your child is about 2 to 3 years old.

Keep in mind that many children don't follow this typical pattern and their teeth may come in randomly.

Sneaky Justine

My lil jelly bean just turn eight (8) months today. She is doing very well, so ahead in her age. She can now pull up herself and excited to learn how to walk. Her lover teethsis has started to come out. Justine is so attach to me that she cry if someone will hold her. She can pick up tiny things on the floor, and understand object permanence. She is getting cuter and funnier everyday. The video below was taken 2 or 3 weeks agao and in that video she was trying to sneak out to the kitchen. Very clever and sneaky lil rascal.

Bouncing 7-month-old Baby Justine

The expression "a bouncing baby boy or bouncing baby girl" is what my Baby Justine been doing this past months. She started enjoying the art of jumping when I let her jump with jake and when she had the jumper toy and she loves it. Now, every time I hold here she just start bouncing like a ballet dancer. If I prop her upright on my thighs, I likely see some bouncing up and down. Bouncing is great exercise for those little legs and will help ready your baby for standing, crawling, and eventually walking. This exciting development is also a gentle reminder that it's a good idea to start childproofing your home now in preparation for the scooting and crawling just ahead. The last appointment she had, her doctor handed us some sticker and pamplets regarding child proofing.

Moreover, my little jelly bean just turns 7 month old today March 3rd. She can hold on to some object now like sticks and pass it on to her other hands. She is doing really well with holding her own bottle milk. Totally different with jake, where he started holding his own bottle milk when he was like 13 months because he was lazy. With Justine as soon as you handed her the bottle you can pratically continue with your chores. Every once in a while she looks for boobie milk. And she will be crawling soon as she started the crawling position this past couple of week. Thats all for todays update.

Can't help it had to snap my camera for this one. I know it is not safe for baby to be in a place with wires but this little jelly bean always like going under the tv and try to touch the cable box.

Almost 2 Years Old

We always said how time flies as it really flies by so quick. Imagine my lil buckaroo will be two years old next month. From being this cute good baby to still good handsome toddler and now just turns 23 months old. Oh boy! He is getting bigger, sillier, funnier, naughtier, handsomer hehe, wiser and more each day. I hope the tantrums and banging part will change soon. I can't help it but compared Jake and Justine. When Jake was a baby he was very good, agreeable and not fussy. You can put him in one corner and never heard him fussing. With Justine right now, she is good but she cries a lot especially if you leave her in the living room by herself. Jake is very independent and good. I can asked him to get the diaper, put things on the trashcans, give the remote to dada, turn the tv on and all that. It's just common to toddler to undergo this terrible twos and I heard terrible threes is worst than two. We will just see.
Jake on time out!(yesterday) I was upstairs finishing the car seat covers while Joe and Justine was taking a nap at the couch. When I came down the monkey boy was on time out flashing me his cute smile so I could pull him out

Teething Explained

Teething

The appearance of your baby's first tooth — usually between 4 and 7 months — can be an exciting but trying time. Even before they emerge, teeth can make your baby's gums swollen and painful, causing crankiness and night waking. Teething can also cause excess drooling. Some babies are barely affected by teething, while others are fretful for days or weeks at a time.

To ease your baby's pain: Try rubbing a clean finger along your baby's gums. You can also give him a chilled, damp washcloth to gnaw on. Or try a rubber teething ring or teething toy. (Placing it in the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes can make it feel even more soothing.)

Consult your doctor before giving your baby any medication. Oral numbing gels or creams (such as those that contain benzocaine) may provide temporary relief to your baby's gums but may also, on rare occasions, interfere with his gag reflex or cause an allergic reaction. Never give baby aspirin or rub it on your baby's gums.

To treat a teething rash: If you see redness on your baby's chin and lower lip, it could be that the constant drooling is irritating his skin. Gently wipe away drool with a cotton cloth (don't rub) and apply petroleum jelly to the affected area before he goes to sleep.

To avoid future problems: The appearance of teeth signals the need to start thinking about good dental hygiene. Your baby's doctor will probably examine new teeth. Some experts advise using a wet washcloth or gauze to wipe your baby's gums and teeth two or more times a day, although not doing so isn't likely to do your baby any harm.

When Does Teething Start?

All babies are not the same, so predicting when your child will begin teething - and recognizing the signs of teething - isn't an exact science. Some children are born with one or two teeth already protruding, whilst others will not have their first tooth until around one year of age. Having said that, the diagram below does give an indication of what teeth will erupt first and what teeth will be the first to fall out.
baby teething picture

As much as you love your baby's toothless grin, you're going to go nuts when his first tooth pops in--anywhere between 4 and 8 months. Your baby is born with a set of 20 teeth hidden beneath the gums. Teething is the process of these teeth working their way through the gums. The first teeth normally appear between six and 10 months of age with the rest following over the next two to three years. Teeth usually emerge in pairs. This is a guide; each child is different.

It is important that these first teeth are kept healthy, as they each keep a place for the adult teeth that come later. The natural loss of a baby's first teeth and arrival of adult teeth usually happens between the ages of six years and 12 years. The first adult molars to appear are four molars. They come in behind the baby molars.

The process of teething can usually be broken down into five distinct stages - although some babies will not follow this at all.

Stage 1. Teething discomfort can start well before teeth even come through. You can often feel the teeth that are about to merge; gently run the tip of your finger over your baby's gums. You should be able to feel the teeth just below the gum.

Stage 2. The first four teeth (the incisors) are usually the first to appear. seeing the emergency of the first tooth is often a happy occasion for parents. Teeth often emerge in pairs. It is usually the two upper teeth that erupt first.

Stage 3. The first molars follow next - they sit right behind the canine teeth.

Stage 4. The cannines then follow.

Stage 4. The second molars are usually the last to appear. For many babies, the emergence of these large teeth can often be the most painful.

Justine's 4 Months Appointment

Justine had her 4 months appointment today. We all went to her appointment at 6:00 in the evening despite of the freezing weather. She is now 24 inches tall, 13 lbs 1 oz weight and 40cm for her head circumference. She is practically grown 2 from her last visit. The Doctors said she is doing great as in better than Jake. She has strong bones and able to hold her neck pretty good and a good back posture. Before we left for her appointment, she rolled over for the first time. And definitely so ready for solid food which i am planning of giving her tomorrow. I am so proud of babies milestones and look forward to all her first same thing with Jake.

Updates on Baby at 4-month-old: Week 2
A bigger, stronger baby is also likely to be a wigglier one at diaper-changing time. Be sure to keep one hand on your baby at all times during changes. Some parents like to place a musical mobile above a changing station so their baby will have a distraction. A basket filled with toys you rotate or make available only during diapering may also help your baby lie still long enough for you to get the job done.

Solid Food

As a new mom, I heard and read that introducing solid to baby varies according to their readiness.I even read in Dr. Spocks book that you can introduced solid food to baby at 2 months old. Jake started eating solid food like rice cereal when he was four months old. Now, I wanted to start Justine with solid food for the reason that she is been using my breast as pacifier and she seems always hungry even after nursing her. She drools when she sees us eating or have foods. I caught Jake couple of times tried to feed his sissy a stick, toy car and cookie and Justine was so eager to eat them. She has all the signs for being so ready with solid food. But hubby said we have to wait until her doctors appointment on the 10th and see what will the doctor says about it.

First solid foods yet?

You may be beginning to get nudges from eager grandmas or friends with older children to start introducing solids. Some doctors still recommend solids for 4-month-olds, but many currently advise waiting until the 6-month mark. Until you start the transition, all of your baby's nutritional needs are met through breast milk or formula. Somewhere in the 4- to 6-month range, his digestive system will finally be ready to accept solids as another element of his diet.

Every baby shows readiness on a different timetable. Some signs to look out for:

• Wants more than milk alone and still seems hungry even after eight to ten feedings a day.
• Starts making chewing motions and begins teething.
• Can control his head and keep it upright and steady.
• Has doubled his birth weight.

Most doctors recommend starting with rice cereal, as it's less allergenic than other foods. Begin with one feeding a day of about a tablespoon of cereal, mixed with enough breast milk or formula to make a semi-liquid. As your baby shows more interest, gradually thicken the consistency of the cereal and add another cereal feeding or two. After a couple of weeks of cereal, you can start introducing new foods at three-day intervals. This schedule allows your baby to get used to new tastes and helps you tell whether he's having an allergic reaction to any new food. Of course, your baby will still need breast milk or formula until he's a year old because solid food can't replace the vital nutrients he gets from breast milk or formula. He won't be able to tolerate cow's milk until he's 12 months old.

Justine turns 4 months

My lil prinsesa just turns 4 months today. How time flies by!?. She is smiling a lot and sleeping through the night. As a matter of fact, she had been sleeping through the night since we got home from the hospital. We are very lucky that she didn't fuss at night. She usually fuss, whine during the day. She wants to play all the time. She giggles, smiles, and get excited when Jake plays with her, and wanted to be picked up. She doesn't understand yet, that Jake is still a baby and can't pick her up. She also drool or get excited if Jake or us had food. I wanted to start her on solid food but babger said we'll wait on her doctors appointment. She is such a happy, pretty and healthy baby. I really can't get enough of this little girl and my Jake, our bundles of joy...they make us laugh everyday.

Your 4 month old baby
Babies love to check themselves out in a mirror. In fact, faces are your baby's favorite things to see right now. Hold your baby in front of a mirror and watch his delight. He won't understand that it's his own reflection until he's about 7 or 8 months old, but he'll enjoy the view. And the motion of his hands in the mirror will capture his attention.

@ 3-month-old: Week 3

video

Updates on your 3-month- and 3 week old baby;
By now your baby has gone from being a passive observer of the world to being — or at least wanting to be — an active participant. Some babies this age even like trying to "stand." If your baby seems to want to stand up while being held securely on your lap, it means those little leg muscles are probably sturdy enough to explore this new sensation.
I subscribe on babycenter, so every month I get updates of Justine's milestones. It made me smile reading all this informative milestones as it works great on Justine. Above is the latest video of Justine taken last weekend. She was watching TV while smiling, giggling to her father.

Your 20-month-old

What's your toddler doing? At 20 months, your child should be able to run, though not as smoothly as he'll be able to later. He may also go up stairs by himself, but he'll most likely need some help on the way down. He can probably kick a ball, too, yet hasn't gotten the hang of jumping or throwing overhand.

He's active in less desirable ways as well. Small children frequently resort to hitting, pushing, biting, tugging, and other frowned-on actions to make themselves feel more important but also to experiment: What happens when I hit Kaitlin? Will the same thing happen when I hit Justin? Don't overreact to your toddler's behavior. If you retaliate by hitting, it teaches that hitting is okay. Calmly make clear that such actions are never acceptable — no matter how intensely he's feeling.

Toddlers are naturally curious about everything — including their genitals. Just as they played with fingers and toes when they were younger, they'll begin to play with their genitals now. It's nothing to worry about — unless it's happening nonstop. When your child touches himself in public, don't make a huge deal about it. Just explain that some things are done only at home in private.

* Music and your toddler or preschooler (ages 1 to 3)
* Warning signs of a language/communication developmental delay
* How can I tell if my child has a stuttering problem?
* Feeding problems: Refusing to eat favorite foods

How your life is changing: Your toddler is very attached to you, but of course you can't always be together. When you or another important adult leaves, it can be unsettling for your child, who relies on your presence to feel secure. Ease transitions by letting him know beforehand that you're going to leave, and then don't drag out your exit. Give him a quick kiss, and be off.

Parent Tip: How to Avoid "No" "Instead of telling my son no all the time, which can lead to power struggles, try saying things like, "Let's try eating with our fork," "Let's not play with the lamp cord right now — let's color instead." You'll find that giving your child a way out that facilitates communication and listening really pays off." —Mary

Justine is 3 Month Old today

Justine just turn 3 month old today, and she is on track based on milestone chart I read at baby center and her record from her pediatrician. She is doing great so far. She's able to sit upright when propped up by blankets or pillows and can do this for short periods without slumping forward or immediately toppling to the side. She enjoy the new views that come with sitting upright on the floor or on the sofa and watch tv with us. She likes watching tv while setting on our lap. As usual, we always careful with Jake being alone with her in one room, coz the buckaroo are into riding on top of her now, or used her as bed, silly buckaroo. We caught him one time setting on Justine, very clever though because he went to Justine and lay down next to her and the next thing we saw he was already on top of her. Now Justine is trying to turn over her side, that is why we keep her buckled up in her swing before any accident will happen.

It's a fact
* Babies tend to cry most during their first three months, so the worst should be just about over. Any time now, you're likely to notice a big drop-off.

Your 3-month-old
Your baby is probably able to sit upright when propped up by blankets or pillows. If he can do this for short periods without slumping forward or immediately toppling to the side, by all means let him enjoy the new views that come with sitting upright on the floor or next to you on the sofa. (Take care not to leave a propped-up infant unattended. Even a seemingly stable pre-sitter can topple over.)

How your baby's growing:

Your baby has been able to recognize you since he was just a few days old, but now he may actually be able to show it. About half of babies this age begin to exhibit an obvious recognition of their parents.

Your baby will probably continue to smile at strangers, especially when they look him straight in the eye and coo or talk to him. But he's starting to sort out who's who in his life, and he definitely prefers you, your partner, and perhaps a few others.

Your baby may quiet down and make eye contact with you, or he may search for you in a room and move his arms in excitement or smile when he finds you. He may even find your scent calming and comforting.

Baby at 2-month-old: Week 2

Justine is growing stronger every day. The last time we went to SR before she turned 2 months she already shown aggressiveness in standing when MIL held her. She can lift her head, chest, and shoulders off the ground when she's on her tummy and trying to push herself although she wasn't moving anywhere yet. SHe won't crawl until at least 6 months, but these precrawling motions are her way of developing the necessary muscles. She can lift her head if I pull her up when she's on her back.
The other day she had colds which she got it from her father. Since the weather is kind of cold around here for the past week, we let Justine sleep with us. I'm glad yesterday she was feeling fine and I was able to give her a bath today. And even if she is feeling sick or not, this lil girl always wait for me until I finished blogging at night and shut the computer down. She is my blogging partner waaaaa.
